The rate at which parents want their kids to lighten up or glow their skin is alarming. Some mothers ignorantly believe or purchase random products and recommendations for their kids.

Kids now have green veins, dark knuckles, uneven skin tone, skin infection due to harmful and unstable skincare products.

As mothers, if you are not buying over the counter and known safe/medical brand products for your babies, use the ever green moisturizers shea butter or palm kernel oil.

Babies skin are delicate and in their best state when not tampered with. Here are few safe oils and herbs you can use for your kids. You can infuse one or two of these herbs in these oils, or use the oils only for their skin.

For the skin to be in its best state, it requires a balanced amount of oils and water(hydration). Some of these oils are moisturizers which make them okay for kids.

Oils

  • Avocado oil:
  • Cold pressed olive oil
  • Black palm kernel oil
  • Cold pressed coconut oil
  • Shea oil or butter
  • Cocoa butter
  • Jojoba oil

Herbs

  • Chamomile
  • Calendula
  • Carrot
  • Scent leaf
  • Bitter leaf but alittle is all you need to avoid drying their skin
  • Camwood (osun) like bitterleaf, a little is all you need.
  • Lavender.

Like every infusion, 3-4 weeks is enough to infuse these herbs(make sure they are well dried).

Buy cold pressed or extra virgin oils except for palm kernel oil. You can also buy heat pressed coconut oil from a trusted source or do it yourself at home.

The skin functions well when the oils and water are balanced. You can purchase stabilized aloe vera gel must especially if your kid has a dry skin type.

Please note, don't ever use the fresh aloe vera around you. Go into a shopping mall and purchase stabilized aloe vera gel.

How to use the aloe gel?

Apply a little on your baby's skin, leave it to dry a little before applying a moisturizer (oils/infused oil).

To buy some of these herbs, go to an organic store. You can also check Indian stores or some local herb sellers around you.
