Carrier oils Vs Essential oils
Carrier oils Vs Essential oils
I noticed that some people can't different between a carrier oil and essential oil. Some think that essential oils are the same as carrier oils. The topic is broad but I will give basic differences of the two oils.
What are carrier oils?
Carrier oils are oils gotten from plants source such as seeds, nuts, and kernels. Examples are; olive oil, coconut oil, argan oil, sunflower oil, and guava oil. These oils can be used as moisturizer for the skin and hair, and are used in making skincare products.
They have properties that helps repair the skin or provide the skin of its need. They can be extracted either by cold pressed method, heat pressed or chemical extraction.
It is believed that cold pressed oils are the best because the therapeutic benefits and overall quality of the oil are still intact.
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are derived through distillation of barks, roots, and leaves of plants. These oils are very concentrated that they can't be use alone on the skin. Applying directly causes irritation or burn.
Most essential are used for its therapeutic and aromatic properties, because they have sweet smell and calming effects when used.
Essential oils can't work alone, and require the help of carrier oils (transporters) to help convey there benefits into the skin. They can be added to bathing water, a few drops is all you need to enjoy the goodness of essential oils. Examples are rosemary essential oil, frankincense, tea tree, lavender essential oil, among others.
