No. BV is not a sexually transmitted infection, but can increase your risk of having a STI.  it is an infection of the vagina caused  by overwhelming growth of bacteria, causing a change in the normal micro flora of the vagina.

High risk is common among women of reproductive years, having unprotected sex with your partner or multiple partners, frequent douching. It can't be contracted through toilet seats. And occurs among women having sex with women.

Symptoms include;

  • Foul, fishy vagina smell.
  • Thin white to grey or green vagina discharge.

It is mostly asymptomatic. That is, without symptoms. But if you have one or two of the symptoms a visit to a doctor for the right treatment.
