Just like we have skin types, so also we have hair types. Hair types depends on the amount of oil your scalp produces.

Washing of hair depends on your hair type. If you have an oily scalp, you can wash your hair every now and then so far you are using pH regulated shampoos and hydrating or moisturising conditioners.

Dry scalp should wash maybe once a week, and normal scalp two to three times a week.

As we grow older, the oils on scalp reduces, which makes the hair become more dry and thin. This doesn't encourage frequent washing. As a rule of thumb, wash your hair based on how your hair responds to the routine.
