Empathy is Humanity

My heart ached after reading the story of the young lady assaulted in the early hours on Monday morning along the lekki-ikoyi linked bridge while jogging. We all know that insecurity is now a major challenge to everyone, which makes it everybody's duty to protect their selves and others. 

The most painful part for me was that people were passing by while the assault was on and no one stopped to do anything about it. Don't get me wrong, I know everyone is scared for their dear lives. But if two or more persons together stop the assault, it will give people sense of hope, and safey. It was the lady today, it could be you or a loved one tomorrow. 

Dear lagosians, I know life is hard, Lagos is a city where you learn. But don't forget the only thing that makes us human is empathy! Looking away everytime things like these happen empower thieves and hoodlums. We need to let them know their is a repercussion for act like that especially during the day. 

If they could do this in the day, imagine what they can do at night? I come in peace.
